Which AI video model is best for short dramas?

Short answer

From our own productions, Seedance 2.0 Mini at 720p: it rendered most of the 195 episodes of our first five series at $2.26 per finished minute and held faces across 40-plus episodes. Use Seedance 2.0 Fast or the full model where Mini falls short, and test Kling 3.0 or Veo 3.1 on your own shots if you want a different look.

What a short drama needs from a model

  • The same faces in episode 40 as in episode 1, from reference images.
  • Dialogue: words that are right and in the right mouth.
  • A low price per second, because a series is hundreds of clips.
  • Native 9:16 composition, so faces are not cropped out of a landscape frame.

One cheaper model for the whole series, pilot included, kept the look uniform from the first episode to the last on High Note. Rendering on Fast where Mini would have done cost us $101 extra across five series, which is why Mini is our default.
