ANSWER

What is the best AI video generator for short dramas?

Short answer

There is no single best one: pick by how you work. A tool with an episode-level project, reusable character references and a storyboard step suits a long series, while one-sentence show generators suit quick experiments and clip-by-clip tools suit people who direct every shot.

What a short drama needs from a tool

  1. Episodes, not clips. A series is 30 or more episodes; the tool should hold them in one project.
  2. A cast that stays the same. Reusable references for faces, sets and props, attached to every shot.
  3. A plan you can review before paying for video: an episode plan, scripts and storyboards.
  4. Vertical output composed for 9:16, not cropped from 16:9.
  5. A per-episode cost you can predict. Video is most of the bill.

Pick by situation

  • Showrunner when you want the quickest path from a one-sentence idea to an ongoing show with a built-in audience.
  • Topview when you also make e-commerce ads and want avatars and a guided micro-drama flow in the same tool.
  • Runway when you want first-party models and a timeline editor around the episodes.
  • Higgsfield when you direct shot by shot and want many models under one subscription.
  • Arc when the series is long, adapted from a script or novel, and has to keep one cast across every episode. We made Blood Sun: The Fall of Kratos (45 episodes) and High Note (40 episodes) in it.

What we learned making series

Across our first five series (195 episodes) the tool mattered less than the discipline: one video model for the whole series, a small cast, approved storyboards, and single-shot retakes. 15% of our video spend still went to re-renders. Whatever you pick, test it on a three-episode pilot before committing a whole season.

Where Katechon Arc fits

Arc plans episodes, keeps a cast consistent with reference sheets, storyboards each shot and renders 9:16 or 16:9 per project, composed natively; every one of our released series was made in it.

Arc has no free plan, no built-in audience and no avatar library, and renders only on Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.0 Fast, Seedance 2.0 Mini.

People also ask

Is there a free AI short drama generator?

Some tools offer free trials or one-time credits, but none covers a full series. A 30-episode drama is hundreds of clips, and video is billed per second.

Can AI make a whole short drama series?

Yes. We have released vertical series of 45 and 40 episodes made with AI video, with people writing, reviewing and editing at each step.
