What each maker says
Seedance 2.0 supports text, image, audio and video inputs in one audio-video generation architecture, and accepts images, audio and video as references. Source: ByteDance Seed, Seedance 2.0 (seed.bytedance.com/en/seedance2_0), checked 2026-10-18
Kling Video 3.0 makes talking videos with native audio, multi-shot storytelling and consistent characters, up to 15 seconds in a single generation. Source: Kling AI, Kling Video 3.0 (kling.ai/feature/kling-video-3), checked 2026-10-18
Veo 3.1 generates 8-second videos at 720p, 1080p or 4K with natively generated audio, and accepts up to three reference images; video extension is limited to 720p. Source: Google AI for Developers, Veo 3.1 documentation (ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/veo), checked 2026-10-18
How they differ for a production
- Clip length. Kling 3.0 goes up to 15 seconds and Seedance 2.0 runs 4–15 seconds in Arc. Veo 3.1 makes 8-second clips, so a long scene needs more of them.
- Audio pricing. Seedance includes audio at no extra cost. Veo 3.1 is $0.400/s with audio and $0.200/s without on Atlas; Kling 3.0 Pro $0.168/s with sound and $0.112/s without.
- Resolution. Veo 3.1 is the same price at 720p and 1080p on Atlas ($0.400/s); Seedance 2.0 more than doubles from $0.243/s to $0.547/s. Kling 3.0 Pro and Standard take no resolution option in the quotes.
- Budget tiers. Each family has cheaper siblings: Seedance 2.0 Mini ($0.121/s) and Fast ($0.194/s), Veo 3.1 Fast ($0.096/s) and Lite ($0.050/s), Kling 3.0 Standard ($0.126/s) and Turbo ($0.112/s).
- References. Seedance takes images, audio and video as references; Veo 3.1 takes up to three reference images; Kling describes consistent characters and multi-shot generation.
What we have seen in production
We have only produced on Seedance 2.0, Fast and Mini, so our evidence is one-sided and we say so. On that side: 195 episodes across our first five series, mostly on Mini and Fast at 720p, at $2.26 per finished minute; a 42-minute feature, The Fall of Kalak, rendered in one day; and widescreen dialogue that came through essentially word-perfect on Fast in The Emperor's Pleasure Court. The failures we hit (invented voice-overs on empty shots, colour words leaking onto skin, faces blocked as celebrity lookalikes) are described in our craft answers. We have no comparable production on Kling 3.0 or Veo 3.1.
What to pick when
- A 30-plus-episode series on a budget: Seedance 2.0 Mini. In the shape of our own 30-episode preset it is about $302 at list price, against $994 on Veo 3.1 with audio.
- A 15-to-30-second ad with sound, where every frame is on screen for a long time: test Veo 3.1 and Seedance 2.0 at 1080p; Veo's 8-second clips suit fast ad cutting.
- Long single takes with several actions: Kling 3.0 and Seedance both allow 15-second clips; Veo needs extension or more cuts.
- Silent footage you will score and dub yourself: Kling 3.0 and Veo 3.1 are cheaper with audio off; Seedance charges the same either way.
- Any model: render the same three hard shots on each before committing a whole project. Your shots, not a benchmark, decide it.
A test that takes an afternoon
- Pick three shots that are hard for your project: a close-up with a line of dialogue, a wide with two characters, and an action beat.
- Use the same reference image and shot description on each model, at the resolution you will ship.
- Render two or three takes each and keep score: identity, motion, words, and how many takes you would keep.
- Price the takes you needed, not the first one. That is the real per-second cost.
Where Katechon Arc fits
Arc runs a whole series on Seedance 2.0, Fast and Mini with character and location references attached to every shot, at $0.035–$0.070 per second on Mini at 720p depending on how you buy credits.
Arc cannot render on Kling 3.0 or Veo 3.1. If your test favours one of them, use it through its own app or an API provider.
People also ask
Is Kling 3.0 better than Seedance 2.0?
Neither is better for every shot. Kling 3.0 Pro lists cheaper per second with sound than Seedance 2.0 at 720p, while Seedance 2.0 Mini is cheaper than both. We have produced only on Seedance, so test your own shots on both.
