What else separates them
ByteDance Seed lists Seedance 2.5 as released July 31, 2026, introduced as "One-take Creation, Flexible Referencing". Source: ByteDance Seed, home page (seed.bytedance.com/en), checked 2026-10-18
Alibaba's Wan2.2 models are published with open weights under the Apache-2.0 license; we could not confirm open weights for Wan 3.0. Source: Wan-Video/Wan2.2 on GitHub (github.com/Wan-Video/Wan2.2), checked 2026-10-18
- Ecosystem. The Wan family has open-weight earlier versions you can run yourself; Seedance is offered as a hosted model.
- Resolution step. Wan 3.0 doubles from $0.100/s to $0.200/s at 1080p; Seedance 2.5 roughly doubles too, to $0.742/s.
- Tiers. Wan 3.0 Prime is the premium Wan tier, still well under Seedance 2.5's price.
What to pick when
- High volume on a budget: Wan 3.0 at 720p, or Seedance 2.0 Mini, which rendered most of our series.
- A few premium shots: test Seedance 2.5 against Wan 3.0 Prime on the shots you care about; the price gap is large enough that 2.5 must clearly save retakes to pay off.
- You need to self-host: the open-weight Wan 2.2 models are the only option of these.
Our first-hand production experience is with Seedance 2.0, Fast and Mini only. We have rendered no project on Wan 3.0 or Seedance 2.5, so this page compares price, licensing and what the publishers state, not output quality.
Where Katechon Arc fits
Arc's Seedance 2.0 Mini, at 9.4 credits per second at 720p, competes with Wan 3.0 on price for a long series, with references and storyboards handled in the same project.
Arc offers neither Wan 3.0 nor Seedance 2.5, and cannot run self-hosted open-weight models.
