# How do you start an AI YouTube channel?

**Short answer:** Pick one kind of original story you can make repeatedly, produce it with a consistent cast and look, publish on a steady schedule with honest titles and AI disclosure where needed, and avoid templated mass production, which YouTube does not monetize. The making is now cheap; the hard parts are originality and finding an audience.

## 1. Decide what the channel is

Choose a format you can repeat with variety: serialized dramas, short films in one genre, a recurring character. Our own channel publishes long-form AI films and series, [The Wolf Mother](https://arc.katechon.technology/films/the-wolf-mother) and [High Note](https://arc.katechon.technology/films/high-note) among them. A clear format makes thumbnails, titles and audience expectations consistent.

## 2. Stay inside YouTube's originality rules

YouTube's monetization policies exclude mass-produced, generic or repetitive content, including AI-generated content made with generic or unoriginal templates; AI used to visualize a unique character and narrative you invented reflects your own creative voice. YouTube requires creators to disclose AI-generated or altered content that seems realistic; non-realistic AI content does not need disclosure. (Source: YouTube Help, disclosing altered or synthetic content, https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/14328491, checked 2026-10-18)

## 3. Build a production you can repeat

1. A one-page bible per series and a small fixed cast.
2. Reference sheets for every character and set, reused across videos.
3. A shot list per video, storyboards, then rendering on one model.
4. A finishing pass: captions, music, loudness, a thumbnail and a title that says what the video is.

## 4. Budget

Our measured video cost was $2.26 per finished minute. A weekly ten-minute film is roughly $90 a month in video at that rate, plus music, voice and upscaling if you use them. Price your own format in the [cost calculator](https://arc.katechon.technology/tools/ai-video-cost-calculator).

## 5. Be honest about the audience problem

Making videos is no longer the bottleneck; getting them watched is. Expect early videos to get few views, use shorts and trailers to point to long videos, and judge formats on retention, not on how many you can make. We have no earnings figures to share and do not promise any.

## Channel ideas that suit AI

- Serialized short dramas released as episodes and as compiled films.
- Genre anthologies: one fantasy, horror or sci-fi short a week.
- A recurring character with a running storyline.
- Story adaptations of public-domain fiction.

## Where Katechon Arc fits

Arc gives a channel a repeatable production line: series bibles, shared references, storyboards and per-shot rendering in one project, which is how we make our own films.

Arc does not upload, schedule or optimise YouTube videos, and it has no free plan for trying a channel idea at no cost.

### Do AI YouTube channels make money?

Some do, through the same programmes as other channels, if they meet YouTube's eligibility rules and their content is original rather than templated. We do not publish our own earnings.
