# How do you make a storyboard from a script with AI?

**Short answer:** Break the script into shots, make a reference image for each character and location, then generate one frame per shot from the shot description plus the references. Review the frames in order and regenerate the ones with the wrong framing or the wrong face before any video is made.

## Step by step

1. **Shot breakdown.** Turn each scene into shots: framing, who, action, line. In Arc the agent drafts this as the script plan, and you confirm it.
2. **References first.** Characters, locations and props each get a sheet. Boards drawn without references give every frame a different cast.
3. **One frame per shot,** or a grid that holds several consecutive shots on one image.
4. **Read it like a comic.** Check eyelines, screen direction, who is where, and whether each frame shows the one action of its shot.
5. **Regenerate single frames,** edit the shot text where the frame shows a script problem, and approve.
6. **Send approved frames to video.**

## What to check on every frame

- The right character, with the right costume for this point in the story.
- The right location and time of day. Night scenes drift toward daylight; catch it here.
- Continuity details: helmets, wounds, props in hand.
- Nothing invented: extra characters, stray text, objects from another scene.

## Grids or single frames

Single frames give the most control per shot. Grids are faster to review and can chain shots so one cell is the end of one shot and the start of the next. On [BROODFALL](https://arc.katechon.technology/films/broodfall) we storyboarded in 2x2 grids at 3K on Seedream 5.0 Lite; 3x3 grids drifted off their cut lines. See [what a grid storyboard is](https://arc.katechon.technology/answers/what-is-a-grid-storyboard).

## Cost

A frame is 13 credits in Arc. A 20-shot scene boarded once is 260 credits; rendering the same 20 shots as 8-second 720p clips on Seedance 2.0 Mini is 1,520. Fixing a shot on the board is 7 to 58 times cheaper than fixing it on video, depending on the model.

## Where Katechon Arc fits

Arc generates the shot breakdown and a board frame for every shot from your script, using shared references, and approved frames feed video directly; see the script-to-storyboard use case.

If you need hand-drawn style boards for a live-action crew or PDF exports for a pitch, a dedicated storyboard app fits better.
